Signs Your Mesh Integration System Needs Maintenance

Most maintenance problems in mesh integration are preventable if you know what to look for. Here are the early warning signs that mean it is time to book your next maintenance visit, even if it is a week or two before your scheduled appointment.
The Front Edge Feels Loose
If you can feel the mesh lifting slightly at the front edge when you run your finger along it, book maintenance. Loose front edges are the number one reason installs slip out of place, and they are the easiest thing to fix if caught early.
Visible Regrowth at the Attachment Points
Your natural hair has grown 1/4 to 1/2 inch since the last visit. Time to move up. Left too long, the regrowth pulls the install off the scalp and creates tension on the anchor hair.
The Extensions Feel Heavier Than Usual
If you notice the install feels heavier or is pulling more than it did initially, product buildup at the mesh attachment or slippage is probably the cause. Book maintenance to have it assessed.
Matting Around the Wefts
Any matting means brushing from root to end has to stop immediately and your stylist needs to detangle safely. Do not attempt to work through matting yourself.
Scalp Tenderness or Discomfort
Some mild adjustment is normal early on. Ongoing scalp tenderness after week 2 means something is pulling. Book maintenance.
Wefts Showing at the Top Edge
If you can see the top edge of a weft in the mirror, the install has settled and needs to be moved up. This usually happens between weeks 6 and 8.
Color Looking Faded or Uneven
Time for a color refresh, which your stylist does with a professional deposit-only service, not at-home color.
Frequently Asked Questions

Any time. Most stylists prefer you come in early rather than wait.
Will I be charged extra for early maintenance?
Usually not, but confirm with your stylist. Some prefer to keep the maintenance interval consistent.
What is the biggest sign to watch for?
Front edge loosening. It is the first thing to go and the easiest to catch early.

Yes, if the itching lasts more than 2 days.
